# Connect Slackbot to the Docusign MCP Server

> Learn how to install the Docusign MCP Connector for Slackbot and use natural language prompts to send envelopes, trigger workflows, and get agreement insights.

The Docusign Model Context Protocol (MCP) Connector for Slackbot connects your Slack workspace to the [Docusign MCP Server](/platform/mcp-server). This enables you to manage agreements in your Docusign account by entering natural language prompts in a Slackbot chat. After installing the connector, you can use Slack to complete tasks such as sending [eSignature envelopes](https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?bundleId=ulp1643236876813\&topicId=lak1578456412477.html), getting [Agreement Manager](https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?language=en_US\&bundleId=pqz1702943441912\&topicId=adf1702945446135.html) insights, and starting [Workflow Builder](https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?bundleId=yff1696971835267\&topicId=dnx1696972415150.html) workflows.

**Note:** This page describes the procedure to install the Docusign MCP Connector for Slackbot for use with a Docusign developer (demo) account. To use the connector with a Docusign production account, see [Connect a Docusign Account to Slackbot ](https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?bundleId=ug3906200f-95c6-4a6b-90b1-f928c85961c6\&topicId=task-4130.html).

## Prerequisites

To install the Docusign MCP Connector for Slackbot, you need the following:

* Docusign prerequisites

  * A Docusign developer account. You can [create one](https://www.docusign.com/developers/sandbox) for free.
* Slack prerequisites

  * A Slack workspace that allows custom apps
  * A Slack account in that workspace with permission to create and configure apps
  * Access to the [Slack API dashboard](https://api.slack.com/apps/), where you can configure your workspace's apps

## Install the Slackbot connector

Follow the steps in the next sections to install the Docusign MCP Connector for Slackbot.

### Step 1. Set up an integration key in your Docusign account

**Note:** Instead of creating an integration key, you can use an existing integration key in your developer account. Make sure that the integration key is configured with the required redirect URI for Slack, listed in step 6 below.

To set up an integration key in your Docusign developer account for use with the Docusign MCP Connector for Slackbot:

1. Access the [Apps and Keys](https://admindemo.docusign.com/authenticate?goTo=appsAndKeys) page on the developer (demo) environment, and log in with your developer account credentials.
2. Select **Add App and Integration Key**.
3. Enter a name for the app, such as **Slackbot Connector**.
4. Under **General Info**, locate the **Integration Key**, copy the value, and save it so that you can retrieve it later.

   ![IK setup, integration key](/_fern-files/_img/b4d89fc6127ca023bc0acb7475007be9dbb437e1d42dd1d1fd302fa5c2492ac4.webp)
5. Under **Authentication**, select **Add Secret Key**, copy the value, and save it so that you can retrieve it later. For security, this value is visible only after you create it. If you leave the page and return to it later, the secret key cannot be displayed again.

   ![IK setup, secret key](/_fern-files/_img/e7502ad512bebea81bd23d3015a4a9cb0319d579d7a04193c5323b70f434c9d5.webp)
6. Under **Additional settings**, select **Add URI**, and add this value:
   `https://oauth2.slack.com/external/auth/callback`

   ![IK setup, redirect URI](/_fern-files/_img/bd325665666486f096b440de9746a9fc57eadea0c55cc5fc649980fdc0013198.webp)
7. Select **Save** to save the app settings.

### Step 2. Create a Slack app

1. Access the [Slack API dashboard](https://api.slack.com/apps/) and sign in with your Slack account credentials.
2. Select **Create New App**.
3. Select **Blank app**.
4. Enter an app name, select your workspace, and select **Create**.
5. The app's **OAuth & Permissions** page is displayed.

### Step 3. Add a scope to the Slack app

1. In the [Slack API dashboard](https://api.slack.com/apps/) left navigation, make sure that **OAuth & Permissions** is selected.
2. In the **Scopes** section, under **Bot Token Scopes**, add the **mcp:connect** scope.

## Test the connector with example prompts

After you install the connector, you can test it by entering natural language prompts in a Slackbot chat.

Try the following example prompts to verify that the connector is working. Prompts are dependent on the templates, agreements, and workflows available in your account.

#### Send an envelope using an eSignature template

`Using the [template name] template, send a new document for signature using Docusign`

#### Get Agreement Manager insights

```text
Check Docusign to see if there is an active [agreement type] with [agreement party name]
What are the payment terms in the [agreement party name] contract in Docusign?
```

#### Trigger a workflow

`Start a [workflow name] workflow using Docusign Workflow Builder`
