# AI tools

> Use the Docusign CLI AI skills to configure Agreement Manager, build manifests, train AI extraction, and troubleshoot implementations with guided assistance.

The Docusign CLI includes AI-powered skills that guide you through the full [Docusign Agreement Manager](https://www.docusign.com/products/platform/agreement-manager) implementation workflow in your development environment. The skills understand the command-line interface, Agreement Manager concepts, and best practices, so you can get contextual help at every stage of implementation without switching between tools and documentation.

## What you can do with the Docusign CLI skills

The Docusign CLI skills support the complete Agreement Manager implementation workflow, from workspace setup through testing and deployment. You can use them to:

* **Scaffold and configure your workspace.** Create a structured workspace and project directory, including setting up the correct directory structure for your Agreement Manager configurations, training files, and test files.
* **Build Agreement Manager manifests.** Define custom agreement types and custom fields in the JSON manifest file, including setting field types, categories, AI extraction definitions, and training examples. The skills can generate complete manifest structures based on your requirements and flag common configuration errors before you upload.
* **Train and validate AI extraction.** Get guidance on providing effective training examples for custom fields and agreement types, improving extraction accuracy, and understanding validation errors.
* **Deploy configurations.** Deploy your Agreement Manager configuration to the developer and production environments, including dry-run previews and troubleshooting for upload failures.
* **Ingest agreements in bulk.** Upload agreements into Agreement Manager, including targeting specific files or directories and using recursive scanning for subdirectories.
* **Test extraction accuracy.** Generate test templates, enter ground truth values, and run extraction tests to validate AI accuracy against real agreements.
* **Troubleshoot issues.** Diagnose and resolve common issues including manifest validation errors, authentication failures, upload errors, and low extraction accuracy.

## Supported AI tools

The Docusign CLI skills are supported with:

* Claude Code
* Copilot
* Cursor
* Gemini

## Skills installation and use

When you [set up a Docusign CLI workspace](/docusign-cli/get-started#set-up-your-workspace) using the `ds scaffold` command, the skills are automatically installed to the workspace. You can opt out of this using the `--no-ai-skills` option.

**Note:** If you have an existing workspace that does not include the skills, run this command to add them: `ds workspace add-ai-skills`.

You can then start using the skills in either of the following ways:

* In a console, change to the workspace folder, and type the command to invoke the LLM you use, for example:
  `claude`
* In Visual Studio Code, open your Docusign CLI workspace and type prompts in the LLM chat window describing what you want to do.

## How the skills work

The skills are context-aware and respond to natural language descriptions of what you are trying to accomplish. You do not need to know the CLI commands or manifest syntax to get started. Describe your goal, for example, the type of agreements you want to configure or the fields you need to extract. The skills will guide you through the steps. They provide relevant commands, configuration examples, and best practices based on the context of your request.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need to know the CLI commands before using the skills?

No. The skills are designed to guide you through the workflow step by step, including the specific commands needed at each stage. You can describe what you want to accomplish in plain language, and the skills will provide the commands, options, and configuration examples.

### Can the skills generate a JSON manifest for my use case?

Yes. The skills can generate complete manifest structures for custom agreement types and custom fields based on your requirements. Provide details about the agreement types you need to configure and the fields you want to extract, and the skills will produce a manifest you can use as a starting point and refine.

### Can the skills help me improve low extraction accuracy?

Yes. The skills can help you identify why extraction accuracy may be low and suggest improvements, including refining AI definitions, adding more diverse training examples, improving example text quality, and ensuring that training documents are representative of real production agreements.

### Do the skills work with both the developer and production environments?

Yes. The skills support the full workflow across the developer and production environments. They follow the recommended practice of validating configurations in the developer environment before deploying to production.

### Which Agreement Manager concepts do the skills understand?

The skills understand the full range of Docusign CLI and Agreement Manager concepts, including custom fields, custom agreement types, standard agreement types, field categories, AI extraction configuration, manifest validation rules, bulk ingestion, and extraction testing workflows.
