# Workspaces API use cases

> See details about common Workspaces API use cases.

You can use Workspaces API to help manage complex agreement processes from a central hub and control which information is provided to each participant.

#### New client onboarding use case

As a financial advisor, you are onboarding a new client for an IRA and a 529 college savings account.

1. Create a workspace to track the agreement process.
2. Import the IRA and the 529 savings account-specific envelope templates into the workspace.

   Note that, for the initial release of Workspaces API, you must create envelopes in a Workspace using a [Workspaces API call](/docs/workspaces-api/reference/workspaces/workspaces/createworkspaceenvelope), then modify the envelope using the eSignature REST API. Full import functionality is planned to be added in a future release. See [How to send an envelope with recipient info](/docs/workspaces-api/how-to/send-envelope-with-recipient-information) for a detailed walkthrough.
3. Add an [upload request task](https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?language=en_US\&bundleId=bmb1723842049882\&topicId=gmr1743734230189.html) (currently only available in the Workspaces feature UI). The client uploads their required documents to the workspace.
4. Send the envelopes to your client for signature.

#### New hire onboarding use case

As an HR manager, your company hires a new product designer.

1. Create a new workspace for onboarding the hire.
2. Create an upload request task and three envelopes:

   * equity compensation
   * non-disclosure agreement (NDA)
   * your offer’s confidentiality requirements
3. The HR manager sends the envelopes and the upload request to the new hire.
4. The new hire receives a notification with a link to access all the tasks.
5. The new hire signs the presented envelopes and completes any other upload request tasks.
