# Apex Toolkit overview

> Discover the Apex Toolkit, a managed package of predefined methods, classes and utilities that enable you to integrate Docusign and Salesforce functionality into your Apex code.

## Apex Toolkit overview

The Apex Toolkit is a set of predefined [Apex](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.apexcode.meta/apexcode/apex_intro_what_is_apex.htm) methods, classes, and utilities that encapsulate a set of the Docusign eSignature API functionality similar to an SDK, enabling you to integrate Docusign and Salesforce functionality into your Apex code.

Although most Docusign workflows and processes can be accomplished through the Docusign eSignature for Salesforce UI, they can be customized and automated more extensively using the Docusign API functionality exposed by the Apex Toolkit. If your Salesforce implementation uses Apex to customize Docusign eSignature for Salesforce, we recommend installing and using the Apex Toolkit.

The Apex Toolkit is exposed from the [Docusign eSignature for Salesforce](https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N30000001taX4EAI) managed package currently available on the Salesforce AppExchange.

## Working with the Apex Toolkit

The Apex Toolkit provides eight classes that implement methods to call the Docusign eSignature API and perform commonly used or important tasks.

* [AccountService](/docs/salesforce/apex-toolkit-reference/accountservice.html): Contains a method that enables you to access the Docusign Console (WebApp).
* [BulkSendService](/docs/salesforce/apex-toolkit-reference/bulksendservice.html): Contains methods for sending multiple envelopes simultaneously to each user within a distribution list.
* [DocumentService](/docs/salesforce/apex-toolkit-reference/documentservice.html): Contains methods to retrieve Salesforce source documents.
* [EnvelopeService](/docs/salesforce/apex-toolkit-reference/envelopeservice.html): Contains methods that enable you to create, delete, send, update, and copy envelopes.
* [RecipientService](/docs/salesforce/apex-toolkit-reference/recipientservice.html): Contains methods for getting, adding, or removing recipients from specific Envelopes.
* [SigningService](/docs/salesforce/apex-toolkit-reference/signingservice.html): Provides functionality for getting the signing URL for the next signer of an envelope, and for determining whether the next recipient of an envelope is ready to sign.
* [dfsle.StatusService](/docs/salesforce/apex-toolkit-reference/statusservice.html): Contains methods for managing and getting information on the status of created or sent envelopes.
* [TemplateService](/docs/salesforce/apex-toolkit-reference/templateservice.html): Provides functionality for getting templates for your account or templates with specified IDs.

Each type introduced in the Apex Toolkit is prefixed with `dfsle`. For example, to create a new envelope using the `EnvelopeService` class, you make a call similar to the one below, prefixing the `EnvelopeService` call with the `dfsle` prefix:

```text
envelope = dfsle.EnvelopeService.createEnvelope(envelope, null, false);
```

See the auto-generated [Apex Toolkit Reference](/docs/salesforce/apex-toolkit-reference/index.html) documentation for details on the methods within each class provided by the Apex Toolkit.

For examples on how to implement common or important workflows using the Apex Toolkit, see [Docusign eSignature for Salesforce how-to guides overview](/docs/salesforce/how-to).
