# ID Evidence API overview

> Provides an overview of the ID Evidence API

View and verify the evidence of your recipient's identity. The ID Evidence API enables Docusign customers using [ID Verification (IDV)](/docs/esign-rest-api/how-to/id-verification) for a recipient to retrieve the data, including picture ID, used to identify the recipient during signing.

## Features

#### Secured storage while keeping anonymous

Enable ID Evidence storage to keep status of ID verification, transaction number, and third-party ID verifier

#### Enhanced security

One-time resource tokens are valid for only 2 minutes, reducing the possibility of capture and misuse

#### Supports GDPR requirements

Signers must consent and authorize ID Verification to start verification process - otherwise, no verification occurs and no specific PII is stored
