# API Function Groups

There are five basic function groups in the eSignature SOAP API:

* [Sending](/docs/esign-soap-api/reference/sending-group)
* [Embedding](/docs/esign-soap-api/reference/embedding-group)
* [Status and Managing](/docs/esign-soap-api/reference/status-and-managing-group)
* [Post Processing](/docs/esign-soap-api/reference/post-processing-group)
* [Administrative](/docs/esign-soap-api/reference/administrative-group)

Additionally, there is a [Credential API group](/docs/esign-soap-api/reference/credential-api) that covers the methods involved in implementing a Docusign Credential API.

The exposed methods are associated with the different function groups.
