It is provided as both a [Maven package](https://central.sonatype.com/artifact/com.docusign/docusign-esign-java?smo=true) and an [open source repo on GitHub](https://github.com/docusign/docusign-esign-java-client). The Java eSignature SDK is also used when developers opt to get started with the Java [Quickstart](/docs/esign-rest-api/quickstart), which generates ready-to-use, personalized Java code. ## Places to start [Setup and configuration](/docs/esign-rest-api/sdks/java/setup-and-configuration) [Authentication](/docs/esign-rest-api/sdks/java/auth) [SDK reference](https://javadoc.io/doc/com.docusign/docusign-esign-java/latest/index.html) ## Compatibility * The Java eSignature SDK is compatible with Java 9 and later. * The pom.xml file listed within the Java eSignature SDK will automatically include the correct dependencies required. * The list of required dependencies can be found on the [SDK’s GitHub page](https://github.com/docusign/docusign-esign-java-client#dependencies). Next to each dependency is the minimum version required for that package. ## SDK versions New versions of the SDK are released periodically to use the latest version of the eSignature REST API [swagger specification](https://github.com/docusign/OpenAPI-Specifications/blob/master/esignature.rest.swagger-v2.1.json) and use [semantic versioning](https://semver.org). General release versions are of the form x.y.z, and release candidate (prerelease) versions are of the form x.y.z-rc. All Java SDK versions prior to 3.0.0 are targeted at the older [eSignature REST API v2.0](/docs/esign-rest-api/v2/reference). The [SDK’s changelog file](https://github.com/docusign/docusign-esign-java-client/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md) lists each SDK update and its notable changes from the prior version. Developers are not required to update their applications to new versions of the SDK unless there’s a specific reason to do so: * Access to a new eSignature API feature or method. * An SDK bug fix including security-related issues. * To support an updated version of one of the SDK's Maven dependencies. ## SDK Issues If you find any issues with the SDKs, you can report problems by opening an issue on the [GitHub repo](https://github.com/docusign/docusign-esign-java-client/issues), or by reporting the problem to [Support](https://support.docusign.com/). ## Docs - [Java SDK setup and configuration](https://developers.docusign.com/docs/esign-rest-api/sdks/java/setup-and-configuration.md) - [Java SDK authentication](https://developers.docusign.com/docs/esign-rest-api/sdks/java/auth.md) - [Accessing the Java SDK object model](https://developers.docusign.com/docs/esign-rest-api/sdks/java/accessing-object-model.md) - [Java SDK: Calling methods and handling errors](https://developers.docusign.com/docs/esign-rest-api/sdks/java/calling-methods-handling-errors.md)
